Parx Casino sportsbetting got one step closer on Tuesday when parent company Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment announced they had entered into a partnership with Malta-based Kambi to provide sports betting to its customers.
The multi-year agreement allows for Kambi to provide Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment with a platform and services for a retail sportsbook, which will later be integrated with the online Parx sportsbook.
When will Parx Sportsbook launch?
Greenwood Gaming properties Parx Casino and the Philly Turf Club have been already been approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to offer sportsbetting to Pennsylvanians. At this point, the only question is when bettors can begin placing wagers at the two properties.
The original plan had Parx and the Philly Turf Club offering sports betting in PA by the middle to late November, which would make the brand the first to market. Since those initial plans, Parx hit a snag with Kambi yet to receive an operational license. While that is likely to happen in the coming weeks, Parx might have to wait until later this year or in early 2019.
It looks as though Hollywood Casino, Rivers Casino, and the SugarHouse sportsbook could each be live by this time next month.
Who is Kambi?
Kambi, which references themselves as “The Sports Betting Experience Company,” is a provider of sports betting services to businesses (casinos) in Europe and in the United States. Since the DraftKings sportsook launched on August 1st, they have been the most popular sportsbook by a sizable margin, almost three times that of number two FanDuel.
