There are plenty of good bets in the futures department and for that, we’re focusing on a couple of NFL futures.
Jalen Reagor over 700 yards receiving (-120)
One futures bet I’m particularly fond of is that of Jalen Reagor. When the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Reagor with the 21st pick overall in the draft, I was a little surprised. I’m no NFL GM, but I think many people had Justin Jefferson as a sure bet in the first and Reagor as more of a second-round guy, and I was one of those people. However, Reagor may indeed have the higher ceiling of the two. At this point, it’s so hard to know, but Jefferson certainly seemed a little more NFL-ready out of the gate.
Regardless, I think Reagor has immense talent and should slide in and be an immediate starter in the Eagles offense. Since 2016, there has been a fair amount of rookie wide-receivers break the 700-yard mark. Reagor is primed for a starting gig in Philadelphia, which should garner him at least 80 targets in that offense.
700 yards receiving means Reagor only needs 43.75 yards receiving per game to hit the mark on the year. That’s not a tall order, especially given the passing tendencies of the Eagles since their Super Bowl run. The only potential issue with all this, aside from injury, is the lack of time in preparation for the season Reagor will have with the Eagles. In years prior, receivers got plenty of reps with their quarterbacks before the first pre-season game even began.
With the likelihood of a limited offseason camp looming, it’s not out of the realm of possibility to expect Reagor will get substantially less time with Cason Wentz running routes. On the plus side, there are so few weapons in the Eagles receiving corps, Reagor should get the DK Metcalf/AJ Brown treatment (immediately starting).
I like Reagor to get closer to 850 yards receiving in his rookie season, with a very slow start out of the gates and then a big push around mid-season. I think Reagor has a bright future in Philadelphia and this season should end on a very high note for him, the Eagles, and their fans.
